Essays about William Gibson
I was obsessed with 'simulacrum' world created by W. Gibson from the first
time I have read Neuromancer. Since then, I dove into each new Gibson's book
published. I have even simultaneously read original of Neuromancer along
with its czech translation which was made by Ondrej Neff and is really to
be admired. Wonderfull translation.
I found Gibson's last books his best works, maybe because of the style
in which they fold together.
Anyway, here are the essays, they are not particulary good, but can invoke
some inspiring thoughts whatsoever.
My first essay (1999) about Neuromancer written for
some person to show her how good is his work. (in czech)
My second essay (2002) called 'William Gibson -
stunning literary technique' was written for my
presentation in english class. It contains more interesting ideas about
Gibson's writing style.
When I found diploma thesis about cyberpunk dealing mostly with Gibson's
work, I was astonished. This is far more detailed and thouroghly thought
and described than what I ever thought was possible.
The diploma thesis written by Jolana Navratilova (in czech) is
here.
